It looks like a big black nasty thing from here.

Is it worth a drive?

20c. So hail must have been pushing 15mm diameter. Large compared to anything I've seen in person before. Continuous thunder here atm.

Fudge. That one was close. 2-3 seconds only flash to bang. I wonder if the storms are getting a lift going over the Te Miro/Maungakawa hills before hitting Cambridge town.

GFS surface wind shows the winds converging in on southern Waikato.

Thanks for the hail report cbm.

Not terribly photogenic, but some Mammatus assoc with the CB's. They arnt organised at all, they develop and then weaken as they drift along.

Lightning activity has ceased for the moment.... The SFC Temp is quite cold.....

Needs a little more organisation for me to get excited.....

A wonderful and varied sky to the south this afternoon with the line of Thundershowers, with the activity remaining fairly stationary.
The temp and wind make it feel like the wind has come off the Antarctic ice shelf, Hands cold just from taking pictures.....
Temps between 9 and 12.

Wednesday Arvo this week seems like a good day for some more storms with a trough coming into play :)

The Rain is going to return in the next 30 min or so, the Line is coming up north again......

Metservice need to think about issuing a flood watch for further west along the line (they already have one for the BOP), wouldnt be surprised if its gone beyond 100mm
