Slight frost here with some potatoes showing a few leaves hit, got down to +1.1 at 1.00am then the NW wind returned.

Got down to 0.8C overnight but didn't notice any frosting this morning as today is my sleep-in day.

Thermometer went down to minus 0.7c overnight but it was clouded over by 7am and up to 4.5C ,when I had to go to work.

Christchurch airport AWS is sited at latitude 43.493S 172.537E according to Niwa site history which puts it between Avonhead Road and the northwest runway. When manual readings were done the instrument enclosure was on the other side of the runway so you didnt have to cross the runway to do the 9am readings

Tim should be able to tell us what his grass min was.
I had a low of 2.7 I think it was, so doubt any ice forming at that temp.
