Should be a good one tomorrow morning, 0.1C already. Also I see metservice have Ashburton bottoming out at -5C tomorrow night which would make it the coldest night of the year.

Quite cold and frosty driving down to Geraldine ( where we are considering buying a property) today.
Interesting to see the snow level becoming less as we drove south along Thompsons Track.

A very white -3.8 deg this morning, a bank of low cloud just to the east is keeping both Waiau and Cheviot warmer with -0.1deg and +3.3deg

Same here there, Richard, down to minus 3.3C but seemed to be less in ChCh where NE cloud was rolling in, with no frosting observed in Halswell.

Hills/mountains are a lower altitude south of Mt Somers though........

And Geraldine itself is only 121m asl which is only slightly higher than West Melton

Heavier frost this morning with lowest point reached, here -5.1 at 4.40am, Waiau -4 at 7.00am and Cheviot -3.1 at 4.10am

-3.4deg. here at the moment; very white on grass, rooves, shrubs; poor birds - sparrows, blackbirds etc - looking a bit hunched up.
Sun just beginning to cast shadows, and I hope that bank of cloud out to the east goes away

-8.2 here at around 8am. -8 at the moment with fog.

Down to minus 3.7C here this morning with sullen looking skies and hardly any wind.

Very chilly -5 in Rangiora at the moment.

Hit -6.3 at 6.50am now -4.7deg, Waiau is on -5.1 and Cheviot's lowest -4.3 at 6.00am

-3.3deg. here at 6:30am, now -2.9.

-5.4 here will be interesting when and if the wind comes to remove this cold air from inland areas in the next 24hrs.

Noticed a lack of frost in 'sheltered areas' on the way to work this morning, only in exposed areas.
Also, some 'black' ice on the roads.

Frost here this morning followed by a totally fine day. Down to minus 0.8C.

Good white frost here this morning with frost remaining in sheltered areas well into the afternoon.
Quite white is was, probably due to fog'/mist clearing, leaving a rather moist cover to freeze up in clear skies before sunrise. Down to minus 2.3C in the screen. At 9am, it was minus 0.1C. but warmed up slightly as the sun moved onto the screen..

Frost here this morning with it being minus 1.9C in the screen.

Down to -3.3 deg here, Waiau 2.7 and Cheviot -3.8deg

By far our coldest morning of the year so far,just dipped below minus 5!

There's a bit of frost on the car roof, but nowhere as cold as i thought it was going to be this morning, the lowest it got to was +1.4deg at 6.00am, most of the night was around the +5deg mark thanks to a light NW wind.
