Got down to 0.8C overnight but didn't notice any frosting this morning as today is my sleep-in day.

Thermometer went down to minus 0.7c overnight but it was clouded over by 7am and up to 4.5C ,when I had to go to work.

Temperatures bottomed out at +0.5 this morning, so wee bit of frost about.

Christchurch airport AWS is sited at latitude 43.493S 172.537E according to Niwa site history which puts it between Avonhead Road and the northwest runway. When manual readings were done the instrument enclosure was on the other side of the runway so you didnt have to cross the runway to do the 9am readings

Yes satellite view backs that up on google maps, it's just where Avonhead Rd ends and Grays Rd begins, at the sharp turn there...

Nah! Not doing anything in the garden as we are selling up here, hopefully now before Christmas.

There were ground frosts predicted for Waikato last night. I can't find any local grass minimum temperatures online to see if any eventuated. Seems recording or at least publishing them has gone out of fashion somewhat.

Tim should be able to tell us what his grass min was.

I had a low of 2.7 I think it was, so doubt any ice forming at that temp.
