Here's NIWA's preliminary, 'March National Climate Summary'.

Warm month for New Zealand with flooding in the South Island.


The national average temp of 17.0C was 1.3C above normal (6th-warmest March on record).

The month's highest temp of 33.1C was recorded at Hastings, Napier and Gisborne on the 8th, and the lowest of -3.3C was recorded at Hanmer Forest on the 12th.

Highest 1 day rainfalls on the 23rd included 304mm at Takaka, 193mm at Motueka, 145mm at Nelson, 116mm at Appleby, 113mm at Greymouth and 101mm at Farewell Spit.

Thanks Nev. I asked because sometimes the later stats report fails to show and I have had to point this out to NIWA. On a couple of occasions they had a problem producing that report and only a small proportion of sites was included.
