Re: General February Weather
Just picked up another 15mm in the last hour or so from what looked like a fairly intense cell as it crossed North Akld. Currently only 10mm short of 200mm for the month.

General February Weather
I'm surprised that was all only 15mm. Felt like more. Again it was very tropical like. No wind and just heavy trick rain. Rain drops weren't huge.Nev wrote:Just picked up another 15mm in the last hour or so from what looked like a fairly intense cell as it crossed North Akld. Re: General February Weather
May well have been a little heavier where you are on Waiheke's northern coasts Jamie.
I see MS have a rain Warning out for Akld south of the bridge and a Watch for the upper half of the N.I..

Bit belated but, thought this event could do with its own thread.

Looks like the heaviest part might go just south of the main Auckland area...Manukau heads obs wrote:next big juicy rain blob eyeing up on the Auckland area on the rain radar

20.7mm in Glenfield in the last 24 hours. Most of that fell in two very heavy bursts - one around 9am and the other around midday.

Yeah, that was some cell this morning Claire if you look back at the 8am radar-image.littleheaven wrote:20.7mm in Glenfield in the last 24 hours. Most of that fell in two very heavy bursts - one around 9am and the other around midday.
Also had a very brief little downpour here around lunchtime, but just light rain since, which has now gradually eased off... 26mm today, and only just managed to hit 200mm for the month.

Indeed it was. I was driving through it and the spray of the raindrops bouncing back up off the road was quite spectacular.Nev wrote:Yeah, that was some cell this morning Claire if you look back at the 8am radar-image.littleheaven wrote:20.7mm in Glenfield in the last 24 hours. The one around midday was quite interesting. It was accompanied by a squall that caused the house to creak and shudder, and a neighbour a couple of streets away lost a window which blew shut with such force that all the glass shattered.
