Re: General February Weather
wind gone light southerly here now...which will be that frontal line that you could see moving north all day on the rain radar...under the upper level rain
make that a SE wind change here now and rise in the baro

Re: General February Weather
The frontal area may move south again, could hang around for a couple of days yet. Some variation between models. High pressure areas to remain largely stationary .[elnino sw gales just a distant memory now]

Re: General February Weather
well, that must have been a small wave depression..as the wind went from easterly to westerly here as it passed over..and it took alot of the rain cloud with it...but it looks like more cloud to build south again

Re: General February Weather
Hey Jamie, I usually spend the warmer half of the year half-way between Palm Beach and Ostend, and the other half overlooking Oneroa…
Did you manage to get to the (very weather-dependent) Saturday morning Ostend market?

Re: General February Weather
It has been a good Summer for rain, fairly regular short heavy bursts through Summer here.
On Waiheke Island I recommend the coastal walks from Matiatia.

Re: General February Weather
About 10am we had a swing from SW with Dewpoint around 4°C to NW and the dewpoint has rapidly risen, peaking over 22°C. Certainly not used to this and am feeling a bit like I'm visiting Darwin. Temp reached nearly 29°C here. Sadly it's forecast to only go down to 22°C tonight and if true to the recent nights won't get their till about 5am. Going to be a toss and turn night for me I suspect. bring on some bolts or cooler weather.

Re: General February Weather
Been some reluctance for the rain to cross the Waikato, looked like a few elevated storms yesterday evening coming in then nothing ? Had this pattern 3 times already this summer with NW/SW orientated rain bands moving through with moisture and heat but very little convergence and instability.

Re: General February Weather
the next rain band is getting shunted onto the area this time, by the approaching cold front
and the cooler air with that should activate the air mass too

Looking like heavy precip possible for Auckland later this afternoon as the front crosses.

A change to less humid weather, dewpoints remain quite high until mid week
