Re: General April Weather
For me the longer any cold weather can hold off the better, hopefully an interesting Winter on the way but warm interesting not cold.
I'm visiting a wet Milford Sound today, plenty of water cascading off the Mnts, photo.
Visiting Doubtful Sound tomorrow in hopefully brighter conditions.

Amazing place Milford Sound, ive being there twice, first time during a heavy rain event and the other on a day of clear sky and hadn't rained for two weeks.

Re: General April Weather
Looks like there could be a thunderstorm or two along the west of the North Island tomorrow pm. Lapse rates of 6.6C and surface dps of 17C suggest a chance. The front will be over Auckland in the evening.

Re: General April Weather
Wetter out this way - 12.5mm here yesterday arvo.
I'm guessing Whangaparaoa got around 25mm for the 24 hrs to 9am this morn (20.6mm + 1 hr's missing data to 2pm yesterday), compared to 0.6mm at Akld Aero.

An impressive place on a wet day with the hundreds of waterfalls.Richard wrote:Amazing place Milford Sound, ive being there twice, first time during a heavy rain event and the other on a day of clear sky and hadn't rained for two weeks.
Visited Doubtful Sound today which is even more impressive than Milford Sound I think, stunning scenery. Weather today was cold with a sunshine/ isolated shower mix and light snow about the higher Mnt tops.

I've only been able to see flashes to the west. The more frequent ones to the SW are hidden by cloud that is illuminated by the Hamilton city lights.

Wikis flashes going off now. Lighting up the entire sky.
And just heard my first deep distant rumble. Awesome. About time we had some weather worth talking about.
