Typical, just as we start to get somewhere we are thrown a warm, wet, base eating system! 100mm of rain possible for Ruapehu this Saturday. Hoping to see it atleast ease off a little in the next few runs. This winter has me on the edge of my seat!

As I had hoped the latest runs show the system being a lot less intense now

Colder air arrived at Ruapehu about 11:30 this morning, now snowing to carpark level. No where near as much damage done as I was expecting. Wet patches and damaged snow pack are already quickly filling back in and snow showers due for the next 24+ hours. Several more opportunities for good natural snow this coming week also. Getting excited for our yearly trip to Ohakune for 2 weeks soon.

Very heavy snow falling down to atleast car park level (1600m) for Ruapehu. Nice suprise as the forecast suggested we would only see it down till 2000m with rain on the lower slopes untill this afternoon when it lowers to about 1200m
