Snow warning for Taupo/Turangi meantioning some falls to 300m, which implies reaching lakeside (~350m). However Taupo urban area seems to be in a sheltered spot and usually misses apart from odd ocassions like storm last month. This model ouput suggests accumlations reaching lakeshore between Taupo and Turangi and up into the Pureora Forest Northern Block.

Wind and rain has suddenly arrived here in the last minute.

Drove from Queenstown to MIlford Sound today, rain, sleet and some snow on my travels today.

Amazing cold air modelled over the upper North Island tomorrow afternoon.

Fine this morning but now it's raining. I think the wind is blowing a bit as well.

Rattly rain and little melting bits on my south-facing window at the moment

the showers on the rain radar are really racing along in canterbury/southland now

Winds gusting near 100kmh at Christchurch airport, sounding very loud outside with intermittent heavy showers

Walked back from work and whilst generally dodging any rain the squally winds were very strong. Home now and the place is rocking with the gusts. The front was something else!

Gusting to 87kt (160km/h) at Le Bons Bay AWS at the moment.

Bit more than the warning and outside the warning area too.

Got some hail along the change today accompanied by some lightning.cold Sqaully showers going by here tonight, power flickering from about 6pm. Just as well I got my dinner cooked incase it goes out. Thankfully won't go cold if it did, can't beat the wood fire

Southerly just arrived and dropped the temp from 9 to 4.5 ish. Heaps of hail in it and had sleet or smooshy hail falling on the windows for a while there which is rare for us here.

Lots of hail here at the moment mixed in with snow and 1C, the port hills are showing 6C so must be warm aloft.

So far in Rakaia we've had hail and sleet throughout the early hours. One huge hail storm came through just before 4am. Have woken up to a white covered ground, at least the road has cleared from the white covering it had earlier.
Anyone know what it's like between Rakaia and Methven and around the Lauriston area?

Woken, probably by a lightning flash, listened to rain and hail, then another lightning flash and practically simultaneous massive thunderclap at 5am.
Now 1.9deg and ground is white, with small hail by the look of it.
Very sodden- and turbulent-looking dark grey clouds about. Still windy.

Been a mixture of hail and snow throughout the night.

Woken to white (maybe 3cm) and huge thunder/lightning storm (Waddington, nr Sheffield). On/off snow/graupel.
