Thunder/hailstorms in Canty/Otago - Nov 16

There is a slight chance thunderstorms coastal Otago and Canterbury today. I notice a bit of instability around this morning with low level sea breeze cloud come in but then get sucked up and twirled around. Wonder if the southerly change will have enough oomph this arvo to do much

We're having a sustained period of heavy rain here at the moment.
My weather station has decided to stop talking to my base unit today so I don't know exactly how heavy the rain has been, but after light rain/drizzle all morning, the heavier stuff has certainly settled in over the last 30-40mins. Wind dropped right off when it started as well.
No thunder or anything more exciting though.

Still another active line S of Ashburton moving up, looks to be head in a NE direction so may move off shore.

The storms are doing that sideways shuffle south of Banks Peninsula again. I heard thunder a few times in Spreydon from the shower that went over the port hills.

Had to of been a small LP supercell to of dropped that hail?? Hail that size has to have decent up drafts. So the clouds must of been at a good height!

Have heard a couple of peals of thunder here in the past few minutes, - there's another just now - and a line of cloud advancing briskly visible to the south, not very far away.
