State of emergency has been declared for Oklahoma due to the severe thunderstorms. Flooding the major issue.

The Oklahoma Panhandle has had upto 4 inches snow as well.

ECMWF is indicating an unfavorable blocking pattern later this week for chasing. Hopefully that can shift sooner rather than later.

With a lazy low over SE USA later in the week the moisture return into Tornado Alley will really struggle.

Brr, it's been very cold out there. We ended up driving through some stuff in IL yesterday coming down, not realizing the Mississippi River would be as flooded as it was. Expecting to make it to Kansas City KS before midnight, we didn't get there before 2am. What weather we did encounter wasn't severe, but it had been earlier, with short lived cold core tornados from low level storms. The detours for flooding were huge problems with no prior warning and in many cases no signposted detours. Finally someone at a detour told us we had to do a significant back track to cross the river and get clear of the flooded areas. Willoughby has teamed up with Cameron & Jodie from Brisbane this year for 6 weeks and they teamed up last night in Dallas, so we may be on similar risks later today.

Some success this evening in the area to the NW and W of Woodward in the OK and TX Panhandles. Shows still on but has gone past our motel, so as it's 1.50am here it's time to call it quits. Sadly it's likely to be quiet for a few days due to a blocking low.

We are in Armarillo TX, we pushed down as far as Dallas yesterday before concluding the messy storms had started moving too fast to be practical to chase, we enjoyed a meal at Texas Roadhouse (my Fav) before heading across to Armarillo on our way to Colorado. We were discussing several things of interest centered on Denver, before likely heading into Kansas for the next potential.

Pretty happy with the night, considering the circumstances. Although it was a heck of a lot colder than I was prepared for. Last photo, the rapidly melting hail was 43mm.

Looks like a multi-day severe threat over tornado alley this week. Monday thru Thursday.

Tornado chances ramping up over Oklahoma on Wednesday (Thurs NZ) by the looks.

Longer range there is another dry air ridge at the end of the week with moisture being swept back into the Gulf so probably some quiet days around next weekend but after that looks active.

Yes, Tom is quite a professional in so many ways, neat guy.

We are in Wichita KS at the mo, hoping to get the AC in the vehicle fixed after it failed a couple of days ago.

FWIW, day before yesterday there were 4 accidents involving chasers. Fortunately the worst injury was a broken arm.

I know where one of the accidents occurred, we agreed earlier that that type of rural crossroad was a huge risk. We become accustomed to some form of control, these uncontrolled intersections come up fast with little warning & visibility. We blew through one we didn't even see until we were on top of it. Last few days have been a zoo of cars & just stupid driving, including see full vans of paying customers blasting past well above the speed limit, passing on double yellow lines on crest of hills.

Am a little concerned there may be a tragic accident due to idiotic or inattentive driving of newbie/wannabe famous chasers. Worst still due to sheer volumes a number caught out be significant tornadoes due to blocked escape paths. Here it is problematic when they close roads as you can go down them with no warning the road is closed.

When the SPC put a small tornado target up some where in Oklahoma you are best to avoid the area! Oklahoma seems to be the worst state for chaser convergence chaos.

Looking like 3 quiet days then the action returns and would not be surprised to see a moderate risk calibre event by the end of the week.
