USA 2017 storm season
Regards overtaking - in know some tours that have multiple vans are connected via RT. So the lead can will make a safe passing manoeuvre and let the ones behind know it's safe to go when they can't see.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
I do agree some of the uncontrolled intersections come up fast with little warning & visibility. Another crazy example of road layout over there are the entry onto freeways sometimes take you across oncoming traffic along the service road and they have the right of way.

Looking like there may be a risk in the panhandle Sunday. We visited Greensburg today some 10 years 8 days post their devastating EF5 tornado. We are in Liberty KS tonight & Tomorrow and will likely visit a car show here tomorrow.

Good point, whilst that makes it a bit safer, it doesn't make it legal, nor does it give an impression we should embrace.jamie wrote:Regards overtaking - in know some tours that have multiple vans are connected via RT. Not driving I can't say I've noticed that, but it does sound rather dangerous.spwill wrote:I do agree some of the uncontrolled intersections come up fast with little warning & visibility. Looking favourable for tornadoes over eastern Texas Panhandle/far western Oklahoma today. Some good virtual chasing!
SPC have moderate risk 15% tor.

Nice stove pipe tornado in the live streams from McLean TX. Still plenty of daylight left to bag a few more today, hope the three from the forum are on to them today!

Re: USA 2017 storm season
We (nearly) hit an obstacle near Elk City in the form of a Cook County Firefighter, not a pleasant experience at all. He Likes using the F expletive and dislikes chasers it seems. We had to do a U Turn and retreat and never caught back up with the storm. There is a video of this guys work on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/TonyLaubach/vi ... ref=SEARCH).
Caught up with Willo, Brendan, Jodi & Cam earlier when awaiting initiation. Only saw 1 tornado yesterday, but were close to 3, pretty messy season this year.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
You can just about see the tornado in that clip.
Do fire fighters have the right to close a road? I suspect they do.

Best not get involved in any form of confrontation with the likes of that guy blocking the road.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
In Pratt KS, centre of the High Risk area. Last chase day today, am missing Friday of Dayton Hamvention for this, but I'm here more for stormchasing than Hamvention
Hoping for a good day & hope everyone stays safe today.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
PDS tornado watch up and storms already firing in SW Oklahoma!
I will be over there tomorrow and it's a pity I am missing an important part of the season. I couldn't get there sooner due work.

Peak chase season now however there is higher pressure and dry air moving through middle part of the coming week, things perk up later in the week.

Looking forward to when the severe weather moves further north. Enjoy chasing the likes of the Dakotas and Wyoming not seeing another chaser for miles

Last 3 days have seen quite a few storms but mostly elevated. Nice lightning at 5am the last two mornings!

Re: USA 2017 storm season
FWIW, we saw 3 short lived weak tornadoes from 2 supercells, the two from the same Supercell were from an early & late Meso on the same cell.tgsnoopy wrote:In Pratt KS, centre of the High Risk area. Re: USA 2017 storm season
I am in Colorado Springs, a good spot to visit when there are no storms. (nice city/scenery/outdoor activities) .
Will be targeting storms over eastern Colorado tomorrow and the day after.
