Re: General March Weather
Beautiful sunny morning here. Looking like no decent rain in the modeling until April perhaps.

Models showing a shortwave trough extending into the Tasman Sea in about a weeks time and moisture influx onto North Island.David wrote:Looking like no decent rain in the modeling until April perhaps.
So looks like potentially more rain/showers before month is over.

Re: General March Weather
Looking like a humid northeastely will come our way at some stage, there has been quite a bit of variation on timing with the models.

Yes, can now see that in the latest GFS... don't think it featured in the previous model run when I posted thatNZstorm wrote:Models showing a shortwave trough extending into the Tasman Sea in about a weeks time and moisture influx onto North Island.David wrote:Looking like no decent rain in the modeling until April perhaps.

Great day so far in the Mackenzie Country. Blustery NW last night at the village, lost my tent to the wind for a moment setting it up.

Re: General March Weather
Has been a little on the humid side here, dp around 17C.
Looks like we keep the humid weather into next week, dewpoint could be around 20C for northern NZ next week in a moist flow.

Re: General March Weather
Could be a risk of drizzle here overnight?
I reckon MetService should have a Drizzle risk forecast, as well a thunderstorm risk forecast on their website???
My Drizzle risk looks like a 3 of 5 chance for tonight and tomorrow.

Looking like ideal drizzle conditions tomorrow John.
Weather looks very iffy for Auckland Sunday and could end up quite wet later in the day. Thunder in the outer gulf/coromandel.
Thunderstorms over the western inland North Island Monday pm.

Re: General March Weather
Wow gfs is predicting a huge storm in the southern ocean next week.
Will be interesting to see it forming on satellite and how big the waves get at the southern most wave buoy

Re: General March Weather
I'm wondering why there is a weather watch out when models aren't showing much rain at all - GFS showing 15mm or so...NZstorm wrote:Weather looks very iffy for Auckland Sunday and could end up quite wet later in the day. Thunder in the outer gulf/coromandel.
