Uninteresting weather coming up here this week, but then it could be quite good as we clean up here as we move outta here and down to Geraldine.

We will notice the cooler weather in Auckland this week with our first coolish weather week of the year, April started warmer than average. I will call it the start of Autumn here

Thought it might be an idea to create a separate thread for this weekend's active low… :-)

Looks like a settled rest of April...much needed for a number of parts of NZ too. First time in ages we've seen the MS severe weather outlook clear of any warnings

Lucky that depression forming about 30S on the 24th is modelled to stay well East.

A brisk southerly has been bustling through here since a few minutes ago, after a pleasant sunny day.

Yesterday was the first day of 2017 the maximum temp did not reach 20C at Auckland airport, max was 19C.

Except for Feb 14, when it only got to 19.3 (same as yesterday); also only 19.9C last Thursday and 19.6C on Monday. But yes, quite a remarkable run... 21.2C here yesterday (same as Ardmore)

A little heavy drizzle here this morn, otherwise sunny… 8)

I have 20.5C for the 14th Feb. Station 93110. But I am using an overseas data source which might not be reliable.

I suspect the overseas data may be based on NZ Standard Time, whereas NIWA's data is inclusive of Daylight Saving Time.

Winds turned Sth'ly during Feb 14, and Mangere's more detailed data shows that it was up to 18.5C after midnight, dropping to 14.2C just before midday, back up to 18.5C again just before midnight and up to 19.3C before 9am NZDT (8am NZST) the next morning.

Edit: Had NZST/NZDT back-to-front, have amended.

I looked at the airport hourly metars for that date and temp range 18-19C for the 24hr period.
Cloud base was 500feet with drizzle.

Perhaps the coolest day of the year so far in the north of NZ, I see Whangarei is currently only on 15C with showers, 17C, dp 9C here in Auckland and cloud cover. Auckland city should stay dry into next week, isolated showers in the east north of the city, A cloudy weekend, brighter weather from Monday.

This not normal, getting to late April, clear night, no wind and not even a light frost, the climate is changing rapidly

On the topic of climate change, Dr Brett Mullan of NIWA was doing talk back on Newstalkzb yesterday afternoon. It was interesting to have a scientist on zb discussing the topic.

A fine day today.
Nice day to mow the lush green lawns after it has dried up a bit after a very dewy start.

A big weather system later in the week with model variations indicating snow, thunder, gales, heavy rain. Have to see how things evolve.

The pattern looks more disturbed from later in the week, disturbed westerly pattern, could see some wintry air come up in early May. Certainly looks like some thunder in the weather mix by next weekend. Will enjoy the fine weather over the next 4 days.

A stunning ANZAC day here, mainly blue skies and a pleasantly warm 20 degrees.
