I hope the weather picks up in June as so far down here in Geraldine, the weather has been so boring since we moved here

Anticyclones should dominate in June, especially east of the country, so dont get your hopes up too high.

Will not be, if there's highs around preventing interesting weather from happening, my hopes won't be high whatsoever, but more on the depression side. ?TonyT wrote:dont get your hopes up too high.

Very boring May, 13 degree cloudy dreariness for a week now. BOM modellling an interesting-looking low in 5 days' time.

Looks like a surge of cold air will cross NZ early next week, there is not much moisture /instability with it though. Monday will feel cold over the North Island, I will call it the arrival of Winter for the North Island.

Got 30 mm in Howick. Whangaparoa picked up 58mm and the Airport only got 14mm.

GFS being very consistent on an extremely cold but short lived cold snap next Friday though EC showing nothing at all, at this stage it looks to be snow around the 200-300 level for Canterbury if GFS is to believed...not a lot of precipitation though

4.3deg here at present, and another day of these extraordinarily dense and oppressive-seeming clouds and overcast.

The big yellowy/orange thing has made an appearance here this morning.
It's been a while - last Sunday was the last time I can remember seeing it.
It's supposed to be short-lived though, but nice while it lasts.

Family friend just mentioned snow in Rolleston. Any reports out round the Canty traps ? Sleety showers ere in town, some quite beefy
