Re: General June Weather
I notice a couple of the Coromandel EW sites got over 150mm yesterday as well. I guess Auckland has been sheltered by the Coromandel during this event.
Looks showery SW tomorrow but gradually improving in the afternoon. A dry evening for the Rugby.

Re: General June Weather
Weird day here yesterday. Some patches of fog, mist and drizzle in the afternoon, followed last night by a heavy 26mm in the 2 hrs to midnight from a very small isolated cell, bumping our total since Thursday to 52mm so far.

General June Weather
The last couple of days have been very warm for June. No fire for a couple days now. Yesterday's rain was quite tropical. We had windows open with torrential rain and now wind.

Could see Cb clouds to the south later yesterday
For all the humidity and instability only 10mm at Auckland Airport for the event so far, some pesky showers to come today.

Re: General June Weather
Looking like another trough crossing Sunday morning with isolated thunderstorms, mainly western Northland. Week ahead looking stable so June rainfall for Auckland will be well down on normal.

Sunshine this afternoon, nice to see.
At present observing some interesting forms of high cloud - streaks, swirls, mares' tails - to the north.

A brighter day with 16C. Some weak cb to south and radar suggests isolated hail over the Waikato.

Re: General June Weather
The trough mid week over the upper North Island shows quite moist low levels, cold upper levels, likely some heavy showers with it.

Easterly flow came in enough to keep the worst of it away for our area. Bottomed out at +0.6Captain Salty wrote:nasty frost on the way here, given the rain earlier and predicted minus four overnight :/

Re: General July Weather
2.2C in Howick this morning, not quite cold enough for noticeable ground frost to form... but did have to defrost the car this morning.
Edit - dropped to 1.9C after the sun was already up

Re: General June Weather
Was a great photogenic one, had a sharply defined and even cap at about 60m ASL, SH3 along the Rukahia ridge was just a couple of metres above it, on the way to work. Was like driving along a very narrow strip of land across a lake.Tornado Tim wrote:Some dense patches of radiation fog were around too.....

Looks like there are some last remnants against the base of the Hakarimatas.
