Re: General August Weather
Great pic spwill! Yeah, I see Blitzortung picked up a CG off the SE and a few later off the NE of here (not that I noticed them here on the western side ).
We did have brief little shower around 3:45pm though, with a noticeable drop in temp. Otherwise it's been a nice relatively warm, sunny, windless day.

Re: General August Weather
I see Whangaparaoa recorded gusts of 93 km/h in the early hours yesterday morning.
Certainly felt like it here!
Also an impressive 95.2 mm at Rotorua Aero yesterday.

Up to 1238 mm here for the year. Should end up around 1600 mm if the rest of the year has average rainfall.

Re: General August Weather
Looks like some thunder chances through to Saturday. Looking unsettled next week.
I am in southern Europe for another few weeks, have to say I am not missing NZ weather.

Re: General August Weather
Weather in Auckland today was great. 18C. Can feel spring in that sun.
The jet stream is moving in tomorrow so the chance of isolated thunderstorms is better tomorrow than today. GFS showing a slow moving front over the Waikato tomorrow so that could be the best spot for some lightning to occur.

Re: General August Weather
Managed to get back on the forum after being unable to since Saturday afternoon.
Nothing much has been happening weather wise by the look of it or people are having trouble as well
Went to Christchurch today. Rather overcast and drizzly with some thick drizzly showers along Thompsons Track, whilst returning home this evening.
