Nothing out of the ordinary here in Chch so far, but to be fair these systems rarely affect us in town

Just lost power here. Not sure what the cause is. Wind isn’t anything out of the ordinary.

A good looking squall line on the radar

Snow level looks to be 200m inland Southland. Probably just a few cm.

I the farming Facebook pages there are lots of farmers posting pictures of snow saying they are surprised to see it. So maybe lower than forecasted?

Power back on here now.

Yes, a bit lower than forecast. But Met Service has a heavy snow warning and watch. The info was there I think.

I thought the snow was the story with this system given time of year. Rain and wind happen all the time.

Ive noticed a pattern where if a deep depression crosses east - west over the middle SI we dont get much wind as has been the case again with this low, its north of where it crosses that cops it, For Canterbury its when a deep low crosses just below Southland is when we get.

Looks to have been a good dump of snow at Lake Tekapo, as predicted.

Also nice of Mother Nature to pop a directional arrow on this morning's rain radar!

Not much here from this system, continues the pattern of quiet weather here lately.

Looks like we look north next few weeks for possible low systems coming down.

8mm and a 52 km/h gust for here. Fairly stock standard compared to down south. A nice 154 km/h gust just out of Wellington overnight is a bit breezy.

My old man is reporting close to a foot of snow near Mossburn in Northern Southland at around 300m asl. Lucky the lambs are big enough now.

After 8.8mm of rain overnight , it has turned out to be a nice sunny blue dome day, here, not what I expected.

Apparently there was a lot of snow down south with this system according to the news and some people got stranded in the Waimakariri River when a bank to bank wall of water moved down the river. 8-o
