Looks like an anvil somewhere to the south east when looking from the north shore. The Thames CB is showing a huge anvil off to the east over Rangitoto from my viewpoint.

[edit - the clouds nearer have glaciated in the last few minutes since I got back to my desk]

I'm currently down at Bombay, drove through thunderstorm cells from Manakau City to Bombay, intense at times.

Unfortunately all the cloud extending out from those storm cells has lowered the temperature considerably... may not get any rain at all in Howick today.

Really explosive updrafts here. Haven’t seen this sort of aggressive and explosive nature since USA.

The view looking north from where my brother works across the road from the Beehive. Another day of decent build ups over the Tararua ranges, but not as intense as recent days down this way. Slightly more SE flow seems to be pushing them off towards the Kapiti Coast by the looks of the rain radar.

And the same view from MY work, blocked nicely by the building he works in!

Edit. Ok. That's the purple on the radar, and warning is out for it.

Awesome chase for me. Some very close CGs, pea size hail with what looked about marble 10mm, utterly torrential rain, flash flooding. Awesome! Took the 4 year old for a chase. She loved it.

Observed some really intense rain under some of the cells over South Auckland/north Waikato around mid afternoon, gusty winds and quite a lot of lightning as well before the rain cooled air killed the storms off.
