Re: General January Weather
I see Kaitaia airport has a dewpoint of 22C which is quite humid. Patchy rain in the far north today.
Reviewing airport data Gisborne possibly the country's hotspot with 30C but Queenstown not far behind on 29C currently.

Re: General January Weather
Thanks to some cloud today the temp didnt get over 25deg but humidity was up 20% over yesterday at 60%, that makes it feel warmer than it is.

Tim and I both recorded 30.1 today. Glad I made the trip over to Whangamata for the day to escape the heat.

Re: General January Weather
I saw the AWS show 29.4 think that was the highest. My home setup went over 30C for the first time this Summer, today. This has been a hot weekend. Took till well after midnight last night to drop below 20C.

Re: General January Weather
Awesome day, not too hot in the Waiau headwaters nearer the MainDivide but once we tracked back towards the east it got real hot. Started pre dawn at 5am and 15 hours and 54 minutes later sloped into St James Homestead on the Tennyson Road completing the 104.07km in one piece- yes an extra 4km , nasty trick that!
Stunning countryside and second placed male, third overall

Lovely sunset this evening in Wellington. Been such a crazy good summer so far. Long may it continue (with regular periods of rain thrown in for good measure thanks!)

Re: General January Weather
Yes, exceptionally warm, but sunshine below par this month so far - would prefer conditions more like those of Nov-Dec - more sun, lower humidity. Both 2016 & 2017 showed substantial sun deficits so we are owed a lot more yet to make up for that. I see Nelson (as reported on the MetService page) has had about 220mm rainfall already this month, with 17 of 22 days having measurable rainfall (quick count).BeaconHill wrote: ↑Mon 22/01/2018 21:44 Lovely sunset this evening in Wellington. Re: General January Weather
Talking of dew point, last night at 10.30pm i had to walk across the lawn bare footed, i noticed a dew on the grass, went inside and up up the temp and it was 24deg, if a dew is forming at 24 is that a 24deg dew point.?
Going to be hotter than yesterday, already 25deg at 9.48am

That Marlborough storm formed over Tappy/Inland Kaikoura range as opposed to in the valleys like all previous storms. How curious.

There's a big grumbly sitting over Puketi Forest in the North at the moment. Has only moved a couple of km in the last hour. Sitting here listening to it muttering to itself.
