Richard wrote: Wed 24/01/2018 09:46 Talking of dew point, last night at 10.30pm i had to walk across the lawn bare footed, i noticed a dew on the grass, went inside and up up the temp and it was 24deg, if a dew is forming at 24 is that a 24deg dew point.?
It must have been a clear calm evening Richard to get a dew forming on the lawn. The formation of dew does mean the dewpoint on the grass is close to the temperature on the grass. Typically with radiative cooling, the grass temperature can be a few degrees cooler than the air temp.

Expect stormy weather next week, a tropical system to evolve and head NZs way.

27c with a 20c DP here. Fairly stock standard for this summer. All time temperature records well within range now for most areas.

Yes Razor and spwill, potentially an interesting set up next week. I put my 2 cents worth to this thread on the subject  viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5733&p=172678#p172678

Certainly something to watch next week.
For this weekend there is wind convergence showing up over Auckland so an isolated heavy afternoon shower risk there. Might be isolated thunder over South Auckland later Saturday.

That’s a true sign you have had your fix of storms this summer Richard. A storm deprived Richard would have chased haha.

Lots of thunder now to my NW, very slow moving.
MS has a thunderstorm warning out but for a strange area that shows not much on the radar.

Low cloud rolled in from the south from 5pm onwards stuffing up anything down here but glad to see you guys are getting some action rather than me here down in Geraldine taking the lion's share of storms, although some of them were weak, since October.
I see Waiau got up to 37C today according to TV One weather presenter and meteorologist, Dan.

Drove to Kaiapoi to check out the departing first storm, got a few CGs and rumbles from that. Round 2 looks to be approaching from the west.
