Apparently parts of Bucklands Beach waterfront are underwater as well. Eastern Beach is even more flat, they will have had inundation too.

And I saw on Stuff that the SH1 southbound near Takapuna was down to one lane due to water coming across the road

Tamaki Drive is closed to cars while it's like that, I hope!

bottomed here at 985.3, now 986.5 hPa. Hamilton might get into the 970's...

I haven't seen what the Met Service have posted but I googled 'sting jet' as I had never heard the term.

The phrase looks to have been invented in the UK.

Its starting to look like we might crack 50mm they way this arvo is shaping up. high tide this evening could cause some grief for the usual areas in Christchurch

Wainui in Raglan is flooded with the road flooded because of storm surge.
High tide hasnt come yet and the harbour is full, worse could still be coming!

Just come from CHCH, was wet alright, back home to a light drizzle and 20mm total.

Niwa now saying it did indeed come ashore somewhere around the Kawhia harbour area, not nearer New Plymouth. Well done Cylone Tracy for prediciting that.

Starting to emerge now, as well as the sad fatality in Rotorua, the storm has done real damage in a number of places - expecially both sides of the Firth of Thames.

Any crazy seeing those areas around Raglan harbour I know so well, under water.

Have passed 100mm of rain, Barometer seems to stabilised on 988hPa now. Wind died down a lot now. Hope the Barometer starts rising soon before high tide tonight.

Just south of Kawhia harbour I've found an ob that dropped to 977.4 hPa , so I think the cyclone made land at around 975 to 976 hPa and continued on the south east track. As a matter of interest, does anyone know what the record lowest barometric reading on the north island is ?

I'm seeing a big southerly attack into Cook strait and Palliser bay near Wellington tonight.

Not sure what the record is, but Cape Reinga recorded 963 hPa on 26 July 2008, must be close to the record if not the record...
