Certainly widespread and decent falls in this system. And we are probably only half done? 35mm here so far

A good mate has posted some pretty impressive pics of flooding in Greymouth. That'll teach them to declare a drought yesterday, hope its not too serious over there

The popular holiday town Nelson is having a damp January, the front Tuesday next week is also aimed at them.

I see Hokitika has had 118mm of rain already today.
That'll be nice.
Whereas Westport has only had 13mm and Reefton 22mm.
Not quite as nice.

Civil Defence has activated their Emergency Operations Centre in Greymouth .There is a welfare centre open as well . Planning around for those that might get stuck if roads remain closed or close again after more heavy rain

PWS's showing 105mm in Greymouth, with 100m of that before 10am. Yep, pretty wet.
As you go up the Grey River, gets much less. 85mm for Ngahere, 50mm for Ahaura, and down to 25mm in Reefton.
Quite typical.

MS reporting 150mm in Grey and 92mm in 6 hours in hoki. Even for the coast that's impressive, and coastal too.

45mm so far for us and still steaduly falling. Picking we'll end up somewhere near 60mm. Its only the 11th day of the year and we've already had nearly 20% of our average annual rainfall....

Our old place would be nice and green with all that precipitation.
The main reason why we moved was because of the constant NW drying everything out. >_<

ChCh aero had recorded about 20mm more than us for this event, 75mm far there.

Substantial rain for this area, that's for sure.
