Yeah, probably the most uncomfortable day so far this month. Currently 26C with 21C dewpoint on my station.

Queensland weather  , 27C , dewpoint 22C.
A dry day at my place so far, with the breeze still NE there is still chance of a shower here. The best chance for a heavy shower this afternoon will be east of here.

We've had thunder here on and off for about 30 mins. The cloud cover came up extremely quick and now bright sunshine in between the gaps. It's sweltering.

Hey Spwill, Queensland wx indeed! I was in Adelaide not to long ago and I have sweated more here over the past couple of days, than I did after a serious wine tasting effort in the Barossa Valley :)

Nice wall cloud developing on that Meso Napier video. Thanks for sharing Beaconhill. Potential supercell going on MS high res radar pic

Airconditioning needed here . Showers backing off here now.

The Napier storm looks impressive.

There is nothing I can see that signifies supercell in that Radar output, Composite Overlay Radar Images (which metservice output) are nearly worthless in determining if storm is a supercell. A high dbz (50-55) echo signifies possible small Hail but thats about it
Dopplar Wind Output and individual elevation scans is the only way to get a better picture what the overall storm structure is like.

In Raglan atm with a light Westerly and convergence occurring over the ranges around Te-Uku, might drive into something in about 30 min when I leave

I did say potential  I was looking at the microburst signatures on the radar. Given the Meso structure, a dropping wall cloud and a recorded wind gust in Napier of 111 km/h, it definitely could of been a supercell ;)

You need the velocity data to know if there was rotation in that Napier storm. But the upper flow was weak so any rotation would be short lived. I would call that structure a shelf cloud.

yes NZstorm, agree with you and Tim on more data needed to analyse properly but I think there is potential. There were 2 separate cells moving right and left before they reached Napier. Here is radar and IR sat pic. To me a shelf cloud would have been on a squall line but these cells were separate at the time those video's and images were taken. Napier airport had the 111 km/h gust according to MS.

23.4mm for my round 2. It all went left and right today here. 66mm for the thread, 135mm for Jan so far.

What's the point of the government buying multi-million doppler radar systems if the public never has access? Odd.

Very clever you guys :D
Good shots and reports on the Hawkes Bay's storms for today.
Nice capture of the CG in today's Napier storm.
Yes, a shelf cloud all-right like what you get in Canterbury like those cold southerly changes that were experinced in West Melton when I was there.
