Looked like a heavier frost here this morning, very unscientific analyses...

You wouldn't of needed the extra blanket then??
Minus 3.5C here with it still at minus 3.1C as the sun was getting up this morning at 8am.
Very white with the bird-bath frozen completely solid. I'd say the ground minimum would of been minus 5 or colder.

Down to minus 1.2C overnight. Don't know when that was recorded because it was quite mild when I went off to bed last night and there was a bit of a NW blowing with a 5C temperature reading and when I went out to get the paper, this morning around 8am, it was up to 5C then as well.

A number of recent tweets from MetService have referenced temperatures at Mt Hutt, but I cannot find a trace for an official station at this location. The tweets give minimums of -8.9*C on the 24th and -10.1*C on the morning of the 26th (today).

Can anyone provide further details on this site - location + elevation? Is it at the ski resort?

Recorded -1.7C. The ground was still very wet from rain that only stopped at 4pm yesterday. Patches of ice visible on road this morning but far as I know no accidents caused by it locally.

Yea massive ice lakes on the paddocks this morning. Never seen so much frozen water here before. Not often we have so much rain until almost sunset then freeze overnight.

No frost here this morning which I thought was quite unusual considering the cold air moving across the country. Down to plus 2.5c.

Best frost of the year here so far in my opinion. Had a delayed start/late finish day. Started the van at about 8.40am. took a good 5 mins to clear the frost ice on the windscreen sufficiently for me to drive away. I could use water to clear it, but prefer to use other alternatives that don't risk cracking windscreens or your window fogging up as soon as you drive off. Besides that, it's a longish uphill driveway ;-)

Hello tgsnoopy - I remember (many moons ago) watching a gentleman bring a boiling kettle to his car and pour its contents over his frozen windscreen - only for it to shatter! As he was built like a brick shithouse, I kept my laughing internal.
