Chilly start with 2.3C on my station but skies are blue and the sun is shining!

Another polar trough to sweep the country late Sunday to Tuesday. The set up does not look very severe for snow or thunderstorms but there will be some activity. Snow level should be 200m in Southland/Otago.

Over the west of the North Island later tomorrow we should have surface dewpoint of 12C and 500mb -23. Enough of a mix there for some lightning.

First full day of sun this month today.

High cloud is on it's way, Steve. Might be some lightning along the Alps tomorrow?

Looking at the airport data around the country Auckland Ardmore was the warmest today on 16C and Pukaki Airport the coldest with a max of -1C and fog this afternoon.

Even though a NW Arch developed this afternoon, which people regard as a sign of warm weather, temperature didn't rise here much over 6C.

Managed 9 deg here but the NW hasnt arrived yet which would have helped it warm more than that.

A mainly fine day here 5-15C. Will keep a watch on early Monday for some thunder here.

What a difference a day makes, 16 deg warmer than this time yesterday morning, i do like the winter NW.

The Otago ski fields having one of their best starts to a season for a while.

I like the way it was frosty overnight and this morning, then it suddenly went off and becoming quite mild and shot up to 11C by 10am, where it has remained since then. Some overthrow showers moving over from the west but not much wind here but then could be windy Mayfield way for example.

On the airport data today Napier was the warmest on 17C and Mount Cook Airfield the coldest with maximum 6C. Fairly widespread 16C across the country except in the deep south.

Quite a wet night with 18mm in Howick. Month to date now at 201mm

20mm here overnight, 168mm for June so far. 200mm for June is a chance for here within the next 5 days

Some quite loud thunder here just now, dark skies in the west.

Got a brief heavy shower here from that thundery cb.

Miserable out there, last night hail in Titirangi at 20.30 hours. Today on our worksite in West Harbour, cold rain mixed with hail sometimes.
