Drove from Chch to Kaikoura this morning. Snow down to about 200m around the Cheviot hills and a little higher around the Hundalees, but only sleet failing as we drove over. A lot of sheltering going on with snow more on south-facing aspects. At 6:30am leaving central Chch it was hail, rain and sleet blowing sideways and about 3C on the car dash. Ocean conditions are moderately choppy at Kaikoura and we are on about 6C with mainly bright skies.

2 Degrees with some sleety showers, and the odd flurry. Should see some more set in snow tonight.

I've only just moved up here, at the Chateau - Been here 3 weeks and we've had snow 4 times so far! Winds were gusting near 100kph this evening up here - so near blizzard conditions while the snow was falling tonight.

Noticable snow on Mt Pirongia again this morning. Seems to be becoming more common.

And Mt Tarawera as well, according to gondola webcam. Still plenty of snow visible on Mt Herbert, but dry in city today.
