Amazing season for Mt Ruapehu with both commercial resorts now sitting on 3m+ bases.. No big rain events for the mountain this year. Shame about the lift damage from the Avalanche.

Weather turned out quite miserable here today, certainly worse than forecast. Overcast weather with patchy light/spotty rain throughout the whole day and a max of only 12.7C, which makes it the coolest day since 29 June

Sounds like a typical day down here when you Aucklanders are treated to lovely thunderstorms <3
Nothing on here about the Hawkes Bay rain event?

I’m tired of winter.
Can anyone give me idea how far away the lovely 19/20/21C days are in Auckland?
Yes I am impatient :)

There is a milder air mass moving onto NZ later next week. We might scratch a 20C day out of it.

Spring brings only a slow warm up for NZ unlike much of Australia.
There is a good spell of weather moving onto NZ after Tuesday, sunshine will combine with warmer temperatures

......yes, but, also, does Spring mean no more thunderstorms for Auckland?
seems to be a wintry feature up there?

Yes. May to September is typically the unstable period.

The polar jet stream is dropping away now in the modelling. That means a stable drier pattern for much of the North Island in the next couple of weeks.

Low pressure drifting from the Tasman near upper NI now. Interesting to see what happens this evening with the initial warm front and then occluded front. Dew points might get into the teens later on. Access R 18z run upgrading a little on rain for Auckland with Total Totals above 50 tonight. Maybe a sneaky few sparks and rumbles as well.

^ It's really hard to tell how much rain we'll get in Auckland the next 24 hours. Anyone bold enough to make a prediction?

Very hard to pick, depends where or if that front stalls....for Auckland...and looking at the current radar... I'm going for 2 to 10mm south of the bridge, 10 to 20mm north of the bridge

Water vapour at the mid levels has increased in the last 30 minutes to the east of the Upper NI. Watching the radar with interest to the NE of Auckland.

The only trouble with this warm weather, means less the fire will be going so will have to use electricity to heat the water >_< which I haven't used since March.
Also flies and other annoying insects, wasps etc. will start making an appearance. o_O

The drought in eastern Australia is making the air mass over the Tasman a bit warmer than it would otherwise be. Temps into the low twenties for parts of NZ next few days. Mild next week too.
