Lindis Pass closed so it must be pushing into the Mackenzie as well. Nothing other than rain evident on the Mt John webcam though

Wet day here in Geraldine but nothing much to "write home about".
Nice red on the radar early this afternoon but came to nothing, really, here. o_O

Funny how the FB forecasters always say these events are hard to forecast- been rolling out that line all winter!

Looks like GFS was bang on the money. Not a drop of rain here, although rain radar has some pushing out towards us from the foothills at present

Was close...we have had some light rain or drizzle most of the day...looked fairly dry north of the Rakaia in the end.Signs of clearing now as the low pulls away to the east

Had 0.4mm here, but that was expected. Amazing to think there is so much snow down south yet still 14deg here

That has been true for some of the potential storms this winter, but this one was text book, the model guidance was spot on, it followed a similar pattern to previous similar events, not hard at all.

EC, UKM, Access R, GFS all bringing the developing subtropical low more west on the 00Z run. Parts of Upper NI might get quite wet tomorrow night into Wednesday.

I noticed on the TV tonight, that the snow flakes were quite large, probably because of the warmer air undercutting the colder air down south. Cool day here with 8mm. Noticed that the rain was moving from the NW to SE. Not much wind here. Slight NE now.

Today's easterly was a bit cool. Reminded me of being back in Christchurch.

Was down near CHCH working today and that sea breeze was on the cool side, only light winds here but not overly warm on 14.2deg.

I noticed the easterly on the drive back from Amberley to Chch this afternoon, it was quite strong for this time of year.

Enjoying this prolonged warm spell, see 22C predicted for tomorrow. Going to feel cold when it breaks next week.

Managed 10mm in the last 24 hours with that sub-tropical low but rainfall is still on the low side so far for September.

An equinoctial Polar vortex pulse and gales is on track for NZ according to the GEFS ensemble 18th Sept 18z run . Antarctic surface temps starting to normalise hinting that cold surface air is heading equatorward. Sub tropical jet interacting with polar jet. It's looking like an unstable robust cold snap next week, especially for the SI.

I see the Queenstown Ski fields got 50-60 cm of new snow from Mondays storm. Wanaka and Queenstown got around 40mm precipitation.

Think you'll find our Spring Equinox is this Sunday (23rd) at 1:53pm NZST.
And Daylight Saving begins the following Sunday (30th).
And yes, the ozone hole usually peaks around mid October... 8)

Had some false tips of the rain gauge on my weather station overnight probably due to the slug I found crawling on the tipping bucket mechanism first thing this morning... that's a first for me, didn't think slugs could get up that far and then into the rain cone housing :-k
