Same here. The heavy rain was supposed to start from 3pm. 4.5mm from overnight rain.

Yeah only 4mm here, rain has got heavier in the last 30mins though.

Looks like a reasonably fine day at Tekapo on the webcam with no sign of any low level snow.

Southerly through here now. Really chucking it down. Good line of red on the radar, could get thunderstormic as it moves north?

Had to pick the young fella from work,on the way home he took this shot of a cell passing over Culverden with his fancy iphone, no rumbles heard from it but must have been close

All over now with 10mm from the downpour. Looks black to the north now witht he sun shining on it.

Just had a heavy shower through Grey Lynn and appeared to be some wet hail in it.

Reports of some very heavy rain/ flooding in Chch eastern suburbs. I'd imagine Banks Peninsula is copping it too looking at the radar

So to all the media who say mini tornadoes well here is a mini cyclone!



P.S. There is no mini *weather thing* but this looks cool the only other similar low I've seen like this is the remains of ex fehi that moved from the top of the south island then onto the upper north island.

I drove through New Brighton at 7pm and 9:30pm, it was worse earlier on but really just a bit of surface flooding along New Brighton Road. Some very heavy bursts of rain, then easing to nothing.

5mm here nearly all from two showers yesterday, next to nothing overnight. MS were spot on with there rainfall accumulation

Yup Mt Hutt pretty much looking the same as yesterday. They will be disappointed

No snow inland from here either, looks like a light skiff to the north though at about 800-900m

Equinoctial gales starting to fire up across Auckland. Multiple PWS 100 km/h + gusts on the west coast. 88 km/h gust on the North Shore not long ago.
