Yes. Jeff Northcote recorded the same temperature and the Riccarton was slightly lower.
Mind you they are recorded in an urban climate, like the temperature here.
I try to record my temperature in the coolest place available, now that I don't have a SS.
Gusty NW winds in Levin right now and were more gustier 40 minutes ago but some clouds came over and the wind dropped. I've always noticed that on days like this where its sunny and hazy with gusty W-NW winds that whenever some clouds come over the wind drops but still remains gusty. This clip was taken around the time of this reading from the Levin weather station.

Went off to ChCh today for a train driver's reunion.
Very blustery in parts like that escpecially in the Ashburton area.
Driving back this evening, nice lenticular forms running north to south in a barrel sort of fashion.
Looked more spectacular from betwixt Rakaia and Hinds. These shots taken when we got home.

We had a similar situation in Southland this morning Richard . heavy rain falling at 14mm/hr at one point from the arch cloud .Dumped down for 30 minutes

It was only very brief here, 1mm in a about 30 seconds, its the way that it can stop and start that's interesting, it just insistently stopped.

Did anyone get near 30C today or is Niwa just gasping for airtime with all these heat story's.

No scorching weather here today but it was warm, especially when the high cloud cover moved off to the north/NE this afternoon. This resulted in a very pleasurable evening here in Geraldine.
She was a great sunrise alright. Warm too 22deg at 6.00am
I'm liking the looks of the models for next week with the possibilities of inland shower development for most of the week, nothing than those stationery heat shower/storms
I see MS's top temps of 26.8C at Dunedin City and 26.7C at Timaru Aero yesterday were about 3C higher than those shown on TV before the cut-off time of 4pm.
MS still have 29C on the cards for Napier and Hastings today.
Similar here in Kaikõura Richard with the clouds, mix of leftover cbs and mid-level cumulus. It's been a fascinating cloudscape yesterday and this morning. Just jumped from 21 to 26C in a very short space of time. Not very windy yet.
Edit - 28C now (2pm)
