That sounds very likely. Also some flooding in very Western Hamilton today. Here however have somehow been in the calm between the lines and been untouched, had nearly all day sun. Nudged 25C.

Storm picture of the summer storm season so far!

A multicell that turned into linear mode. Same thing going on in the storm pictures from Bulls.

Hello John ,Now we have a line of Cb's stretching NE to -SW .Upper winds are northerly so in theory cloud remnants will come this way

Seems to be a trough incoming .The Cb tops from afar are continuing to grow and spread out

Storms have really exploded over eastern parts of Fiordland in the last half hour.

Those Southland storms were modelled to pop about 4pm but a cap delayed the development.

A PWS at Waitetuna west of Hamilton shows 57mm in an hour early afternoon. Was a beautiful mainly sunny day here.

Rain is falling at 58.8mm /hr .Having big hail decent thunderstorm .9.3mm has fallen since 2145 hrs

I can see why the Severe Weather Desk has issued a Mod Risk, rather than High for today for a good portion of the NI.

The Atmosphere is full of moisture, cloud is ensuing, if the sun comes out for a decent amount of time should get quite a few storms today.

Getting glimpses now of some good looking building cumulonimbus clouds between gaps in this lower cloud.

I have a very messy multi cell line coming my way. Haven’t heard any thunder yet.

Heavy Rain in Raglan with multiple convective cells around, no thunder as of yet.
