Time for a thread on this weather pattern. Looks like convective weather for almost the next week.

Today it is rather hazy as Tim has already mentioned. Very warm and humid.

I cannot chase this week unless it is after 4.30 when i finish milking the moos. If something is firing after 4.30 that is chaseable i will be in the car for sure.

Don’t like today’s chances for here. Very cloudy this morning.

I managed a few mm of rain from a shower yesterday afternoon.

Thursday looking thundery with lapse rates steepening as the upper trough edges in. A high risk across the inland ranges. As for Auckland and north Waikato looks to be atleast a low risk, I would upgrade this if moisture starts looking better.

Friday a similar deal but with thundery convection across the country.

Some storms did fire up in North Canterbury according to the Blitzortung.
If this clagg cleared here, we could of had something interesting, maybe?

I had a job over the Mount this morning. a beefy shower went through close to 8am. after that I headed down to Whakatane where I worked at the hospital the rest of the day. Seemed pretty boring/mundane weather wise from my perspective.

Some heavy showers/ thunder has developed down in Waikato already , Cb tops can be seen from Auckland. Will keep a watch on Auckland skies next few days but the hill country north and south of Auckland looks better placed for a Tstorm chance

Hands down best cg storm I have seen in NZ. Crazy bolts but none showing in blitz which is odd.

Looks to be a hail core on this. MetService need to warn it. Dangerous storm for cg and potentially hail.

Gone for a drive to find hail as it was just sliding past my house. Big flash flooding in Gordonton.

Ferocious storm. I’ve chased it to Newstead. Getting nailed by outrageous rain rate, pea sized hail and straight line winds upwards of 80+km.

Should hit Tim’s station in Matangi I think. Keep an eye on his page.

Marble size hail now. Major surface flooding taking place. Just had CG hit something very close to me. Instant thunder.

Yea, quite heavy rain further east from the station, but Western matangi has got quite a bit of minor surface flooding, the line is back building and is a risk for a flash floods further down the line.... Cambridge etc should keep an eye out..... Quite a awesome lightning show too 😊

Dark purple on radar went right over family farm where I have a Davis rain gauge operating. 30mm in 30min, averaged 65mm/hr for 15 minutes of that.
