Fantastic photos and especially from spwill and NZstorm! I particularly love the one with the cg over Bombay. What a terrific storm last night. It was one of the best ever lightning shows I have ever seen and it lasted for hours. I just sat outside with a bottle of wine and a bar of chocolate, and watched for at least 3 hours. Sometimes the lightning was so bright, I had to blink. The variety was the full Monty varying between sheet, cc, and cg. And with multiple cells you could get all 3 in almost one hit. I do hope we get another repeat tonight although there isn't the same heating has we had yesterday.

Lost track of the amount of Severe T-storm Warnings issued for the North Island yesterday. Interesting to see how widespread they were though. Below are Blitzortung's CG's over the 12 hours to 8pm yesterday, along with the 12 hours to 6am this morning.

The cap broke too early, and it faded. Shame. Last night was phenomenal. Hi everyone!

Yesterday's lightning strikes.
For the record, according to MS, there were 27087 strikes over the North Island, whereas only 175 strikes were recorded over the South Island and the rest were out to sea.
So congrats to the NI for getting so many =D>
Our turn will be next

I agree Thursday is the next day to watch but timing of the upper trough will be a factor.

As for today, storm cells were colapsing due to light upper winds.

Have a cell over me and it’s dropping massive rain drops. It is as if it’s hail that has melted? Sounds like hail on roof but no hail seen.
