Small thunderstorm heading along the Kaimai ranges again east of Waihi, can hear thunder but haven't been able to spot any lightning yet.

Some fantastic lightning strikes in Titirangi about 30 minutes ago with severe downpour of heavy rain. Some were direct CG's. Just correct the time as I was getting Hell Pizza's at 1855 hours.
Who put the LED's on the lightning arrestor ?

He thought you meant you could not see the funnel in the pictures, instead of asking what locality it was over.

Yes saw 4 decent lightning bolts on my jog this evening. Very nice to see

I see the breeze has finally turned W at the airport but too late in the day for anything now... think I'll be out with the garden hose tomorrow

Central Waikato is now blowing up everywhere. Lots of new cells. Lightning in all directions at the moment. Should get some nice rain out of it all tonight.

Some very high low level wind sheer is visible in the clouds. Main clouds heading south but some lower clouds heading east. Keeping an eye out for a funnel with signs like that.

Captured the audio of a nice lightning strike nearby when a car crashed across the road from us. The driver was ok.

Lightning has eased away here at Bombay as storms push away south.

Yes, you're probably right #-o  I think I can read behinds the lines with that comment John 8)

After I took the photo showing the dying stages looking over the paddock next door there was a cloud at ground level behind the forest, i should have taken anther photo, So I think it was about able enough make a vertex close to the ground as to form a cloud. No thunder but a short sharp shower and fennel cloud, so I'll make do with that.
Its would have been over an area between Medbury and The Pecks.

I thought so too - thunder is not as loud as I would expect based on how close the lightning looked. Have picked up a very welcome 8mm rain here.

Thanks for that, Richard, and nice capture
Bet you were rapped.
Just like when I was chasing thunderstorms in "Jimmy" the Morris Minor, back in 2012, I think, when I captured that tornado in Halswell. :D
