I find that it is very disappointing that MetService are advertising fireworks on their soon to be replaced website [-X

I think on their new better Website, they should have a live lightning page so you can click onto to see whether a lightning strike, whatever it be from cloud to cloud or cloud to earth, in a thunderstorm, especially in the Auckland or the West Coast area, where most thunderstorms occur, so if an occurrence happens, you can be safe in you are innocently out walking your dog, etc. and it comes onto rain. ?

Personally I thought the old site worked just fine. Maybe I'm just a bit weary of being pushed into upgrades for upgrades sake. The old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" thing.

MS, if you are reading this, can you bring back the sliders for viewing time series radar and satellite imagery? Those were useful for quickly scanning through the imagery.

Hi Harley,

The "scrubber" for radar and satellite imagery works the same way on the new site to the old site - the only difference is that there are thumbnails of the imagery in the scrubber. You can still drag and scan through the time series.

Is this what you were referring to?

Putting "Clothing" near the top of current conditions doesn't make sense to me. Does anyone in NZ find that useful?

It is one of our most popular pieces of data, based on user feedback :)

Not a fan of the new site. Not as user friendly and a little messy looking to me. Miss the comp generated percentages on rural now too, not available by the looks. I know it's not entirely accurate but you get to know the patterns and now can't see that.

What do you mean by "comp generated percentages"?

No information has been removed on the new site, so it is probably just a case of finding it, which I can hopefully help you with if I can understand a little better what you are looking for.

When you use to go under "Rural" and then say "Canterbury Plains" for example, from Day 4 through to 10 there would be computer generated rainfall percentages for days 4 to 10 for 1mm+ and 10mm+....

Ah yes, thanks, I see that now. I didn't realise the thumbnail strip could be dragged across similarly to the slider on the old site.

Just an FYI, 120KM Radar (non-composite) has been added to every Radar site on the new website :)

Cantab03,

The information is still there, but it is for specific locations (rather than for the whole of Canterbury Plains).

So, for example, at https://www.metservice.com/rural/region ... ury-plains click on Methven and you will see the information both in the preview panel and the full forecast screen. It is now also available from Day 1 onwards, rather than just days 4 to 10.

We are considering also adding this to non-rural pages too :)

The surface weather maps are too big. Could you make them smaller as what was on the old MetService page.
I like cutting them out and putting them into my weather diary for future reference.
