43°C is being currently recorded in Waitoa, does anyone know how accurate this is?

Waitoa is in Waikato. It is certainly not 43, let alone low 30s. Would think 30 would be the max I Waikato at this stage.

Just hit 30 here but the sea breeze has just arrived so that might be the peak here unless the SW comes back...

Nonsense and should be left off maps.

Hamilton airport has just broken 30C, 2pm is fairly early for that. My sensor is wandering in roughly sinusoidal fashion between 30.9 and 31.7 on about a 5min timescale. Not sure if that's real puffs of wind or a limitation of the sensor.

Agree. In fact I don't think that Waitora PWS even actually exists, because it has the same Wunderground ID# as the nearby Tatuanui PWS (albeit with a slight time difference between readings) and it doesn't appear on Wunderground's normal maps.

And secondly, being about 15C higher than any other PWS in the immediate area, and having regularly reported 40C+ temps over the last couple of months, including 45C last month, should raise a few eyebrows.

Wind just dropped from the south, swinging to SSE. Energy on the surface becoming strong, temp spiking to 30.7c , 21.7c DP, heat index 33.9c at 2.25pm

My PWS (Davis Vantage pro2) max temp record is 31.2c

Surprisingly it's still 30 here even with a NE trying to push in. Skeptical that the SW will regain dominance but I've no doubt it would probably reach 31 if it did...

Reached 29.2 here before yet another SW wind came up and cooled to 26deg.

Just got to 29.7 at my station. Haven’t got a
stable breeze from any direction.

In the light wind zone here, still light SW, muggy conditions. . I see Grey Lynn is on 30.8C.

28.6C at Kelburn now, so the 29C prediction may be slightly exceeded (but unlikely to get to 29.5C I think). Last 30+ reading was 30.1C in Feb 1982, before that same value in Jan 1975. However with a very light NE drift the unexpected may happen.

31.0 with a 23.1 dew point. It’s rather steamy!

I think Hamilton airport now 31.6C has passed most other high readings in recent years. And Matangi weather (Tim's) has hit 33.3! This is getting brutal now, with still no wind at all.

About to break my stations record of 31.9 which was recorded in Jan 2008 back when Will had the station in Hamilton east. I’m on 31.4 with no sign of temp slowing down.

Also just set a new heat index record for this station of 36.4.

Now 29.4C, already the highest since Feb. 1982 (I don't have 2018's max. to hand but pretty sure it was lower than that)

30.0C now - records pending I think! Update: 30.3C - highest ever at Kelburn, and probably the highest in the city site records since 31.1C in Feb 1895.

32.1c a short while ago with a 23c DP. Smashed my PWS max temp record by a full degree. Wind behavior has been critical to the temp spikes.

Plummeted to 31.2c in the last 30 min. Every nearby PWS has been around the same max temp, otherwise it would be hard to believe.

Certainly nothing matches the forecast MS has for chch today, Fine with high cloud northeasterlies.
Its more like low cloud or clag, NE winds and 20C, although it does seem to be confined to chch northwards.
Tomorrow we may see 30C and 32C thursday, friday has potential to be hot but its all dependant on high cloud cover before the southerly.
Yesterday rocketed to 28C once the SW dropped off and a light breeze from the NE kicked in, not bad for those conditions.
Canterbury, home of good rugby and severe storms

I peaked at 31.6. Just shy of my record. Too much cloud now to get hotter.
