Re: Frosts 2019
First sub zero of the year -0.6. Could speculate it should be colder considering it's now June and that was a clear night after a cold Southerly day. But just as likely it was some breeze though the night that kept it from getting any colder.

Down to minus 4.4C overnight but frosting seemed to go off quicker than yesterday morning with a light to moderate Northerly wind blowing.

Re: Frosts 2019
Thursday morning had a sharp frost in the south according to a MetService tweet. Tekapo recorded -7.3°C and Timaru Airport -4.5°C. Is that the lowest so far this winter?

2 sharp frosts were recorded here on the mornings of the Wed/Thurs 5th and 6th.Simon Culling wrote: ↑Sat 08/06/2019 09:22 Thursday morning had a sharp frost in the south according to a MetService tweet. Tekapo recorded -7.3°C and Timaru Airport -4.5°C. Is that the lowest so far this winter?
Both lower than minus 4C.
The one on the Wednesday was quite white with remnants of frost lasting well into the day with some icy patches around where the sun never shone. In the evening it was already minus 2.9C at 10pm.
The next day, the frost went off earlier than the previous day as a bit of a northerly wind picked up.
