Re: Frosts 2019
Same here, ten years ago I would have my pumpkins freeze in the shed every winter if I didnt wrap them in wool blankets, thanks to climate change I dont have that problem anymore.Chris Raine wrote: ↑Thu 08/08/2019 00:30 On the ground -2.2C . for yesterday 7th . Re: Frosts 2019
No proper frosts since that one. Just a brief drop to -0.1 with no proper freeze. At this rate/in this windy pattern/ no definite frost for August and maybe for the rest of the year. Last year had no proper frost after 4th July.cbm wrote:-1.3 here. Didn't get as cold as Ham airport. Didn't drop below 0 untill 6am.

Re: Frosts 2019
Tempted it by saying that. 0 forecast for tonight. However I live in a corridor where any SE wind gets enhanced and sometimes gets no frost when other areas nearby do, still quite a steady SE breeze currently at dusk.cbm wrote: ↑Fri 16/08/2019 18:41No proper frosts since that one. Re: Frosts 2019
Was not a full on ground frost at my place on the Miramar peninsula here in Wellington, but ALL the cars outside nearby had decent layer of ice on their windscreens. First time this year!
But down by Wellington airport was very icy. The grass right against the side of the runway was VERY crusty. And it exposed the fact that Wellington airport does not have much in the way of de-icing equipment. Some flights were delayed by up to 2 hours! (See attached photo). My boss was flying to Auckland and got there very late. Very rare occurrence in Welly to have an icing issue at the airport given its location so close to the sea, and the “breezes” round here.
And on my cycle to work, ALL the surfaces of the wooden bridges on the waterfront (at sea level in “windy Wellington”) were frozen with ice on the surface. Dodgy as!

Re: Frosts 2019
I don't have the Tmin for this morning at Kelburn yet, but if it was 1.4C or less, it will be the lowest reading since August 2011 which had a day with a low of 0.5C.BeaconHill wrote: ↑Mon 19/08/2019 19:49 Was not a full on ground frost at my place on the Miramar peninsula here in Wellington, but ALL the cars outside nearby had decent layer of ice on their windscreens.
