I'd like to be, but I meant it will be interesting to see how high it gets. I saw some incredible photos a few years ago on Stuff.

Re: General March Weather
Our aeroplane flight back to Timaru was delayed because of foggy conditions in Auckland and Hamilton.

Re: General March Weather
Some decent PWS rainfall totals this morning on Auckland's North Shore from early morning shower activity.
Not sure of their accuracy but one PWS recorded 30mm in an hour to 3am. Not a drop of rain here.
A convergence zone has been slowly moving westward across the region.

Re: General March Weather
Yesterday was a thick and very extensive fog for March. Would have thought same atmospheric conditions would result in repeat today but no, fine and clear this morning. Some subtle factors, hard to forecast, must make the difference.

Had to go up on the roof again to lubricate the anemometer shaft, not spinning despite 5-10kph wind speed. Had a lot of trouble with these Davis anemometers - first one I had kept getting stuck magnetic reed switch and this one becomes physically stiff all the time

Re: General March Weather
Yea mine has wind spike readings under certain conditions but very rare. It chews the batteries tho. I notice it’s only working during the day when the sun is shining.David wrote:Had to go up on the roof again to lubricate the anemometer shaft, not spinning despite 5-10kph wind speed. Maintaining these stations is a real drag on time and money.

Re: General March Weather
I have a WS 1081 Tesa weather station which other than replacing the transmitter in January this year the outdoor unit is now 11 years old. The desktop unit has been replaced through to align to the new transmitter. The station has survived two x tropical cyclones Fehi and Gita when I lived on the West Coast.Winds speeds gusted to 56knots Was the Runanga station near Greymouth

Re: General March Weather
NW wind has strengthened a little here over the past half-hour or so; can see a few spots of rain on a NW-facing window.

Re: General March Weather
A rather close day here, probably because of the very moist conditions on the West Coast.
Both humidities and DP up.
Warm tempertures as well.
Light winds between east and south.

Re: General March Weather
One or 2 Cu's going up around the Mt.Peel/4 Peaks area but, at the moment, nothing much to "wet your pants" over.
Edit: A weak but obvious wall cloud now moving north along the coast as the cooler and breezy southerly change with it's associated low cloud/stratus moves in.

Re: General March Weather
Southerly wind change bustling through Ashburton in the past few minutes, quite gusty at times.
