Re: new zealand tornado
Been a different weather scenario this summer.
Conditions not looking likely.
There have been a few reported willy-willys or dust-devils.
The last one reported was the Fairton Tornado near Ashburton last November.

Re: new zealand tornado
Last year was good year for tornadoes being recorded in NZ.
I particularly like this youtube clip, captures the energy of a twister.

Re: new zealand tornado
It wasn't a "mini" tornado, there's no such thing.
A tornado is a tornado whether it be large or small.
"Mini" is a term that the media uses as opposed to the tornados they get in the USA.
I remember seeing that article on Stuff Interesting.

Re: new zealand tornado
Yes, the one at Fairton, just north of Ashburton.
It was beside the State Highway One, so many people saw it.

Re: New Zealand Tornadoes
I remember there being a waterspout in Auckland and there was a boat that drove right through the middle of it and someone on the boat took a video of it but I can't seem to find it
