Caught a couple of strikes this morning off the south coast of Wellington, east of Marlborough, missed the best of it though like usual. Pictures later

I think we can safely move on from this system now for low level snow for mid Canterbury - this mornings run of EC looking very promising for snow to sea level for Canterbury with a very cold, albeit fairly dry SW change for Sunday

Re: General July Weather
A mild July for NZ, frost free here so far this year. The month was on the stable side for Auckland compared to usual July weather, a lot of the months rain fell on one day.

Re: General July Weather
Looking at the airport data Auckland's temperature has reached or exceeded 16C on 20 days this month.
So probably a record warm July as far as maximums go.

Thought I would add these here, though they were originally posted by MetService last Friday 26th, and relate to the wind run for that week. Was an unusually calm week for Wellington!

A quick check of Kelburn Tmaxs & Tmins for July so far shows it will be very close to the record warmth of July 1998.

Yes, seems like it's been a hot zone for shower activity here today, 20mm since midnight.

Re: General July Weather
Heaviest falls must have been quite localised. I wasn't home at the time but family members report just a bit of hail mixed in the rain... Certainly not as much as the photos anyway
