Another solid line of thunderstorms passing to the SW of Wellington for the last 25mins. Large flashes visible every 20-30 seconds.

Fuzzy looking moon above at the moment.
Is that the end of the rain for here?
A bit of a WSW blowing here and you can hear the Waihi River

Re: Heavy rain weekend and very cold blast 10-16th August
Wasn't much of a event here, 7mm of rain and now a slight frost to start the day. Forecasters certainly didn't pick the snow level very well, were saying 300-400m but looking at the mountains this morning its 800-900m

Storm Jamie referred to tracked South of Tauranga and had lost a lot of intensity by the time it got over this side. Nothing else noteworthy I'm aware of last night.

Snow as low as 500m by the looks of webcams in mid Canterbury.
Some heavy rain in South Canterbury with SH1 currently closed south of Timaru due flooding.
Mild in Auckland this morning with 15C. Radar shows a warm front moving into Waikato currently.

Yep here for the night and roads still dodgy... managed to score a bed. Arthurs pass website recording 39cm and maybe a few more to come today. Puked snow until about 2am and then froze over.Razor wrote: ↑Sat 10/08/2019 15:02You might be there for the night. Ring some of the tramping clubs you might score a bed, I know there are some people at the Christchurch Tramping Club placesnowchaser01 wrote: ↑Sat 10/08/2019 13:11 Currently stuck in Arthurs Pass. Heavy snow falling in the village since just after 8am. Not letting people in either direction. Cue of cars on the road... nearing 15cm and counting quickly. Can't work out when this will stop TBH... radar seems to suggest soon, but Metservice have the road warning in force until 7pm. GFS modelling suggest even longer. Any thoughts anyone? Cheers

Nice mild morning again, sun's out. Hopefully the heating boosts any potential action later today...

Dropped the watch when the models showed higher freezing levels in North Canterbury...both EC and GFS had freezing levels above 800 metres on Friday evening also showed more moisture in a onshore flow south of Rangiora
