Auckland and new plymoth tornadoes

tornado hit east auckland suburb St Heliers last night causing damage to 5 houses and another tornado hit new plymouth in tarnaki this morning injuring one person. we may get more as a severe thunderstorm watch is in force from taranaki to northland

The New Plymouth storms precip pattern resembled a small supercell.

Radar scans backs up reports with echos topping 65 dbz.

An Auckland man says he's just thankful there were no injuries last night after a violent tornado suddenly blew in his front door and lifted his roof as his family were watching television at their St Heliers home....

...Wild weather and high winds this morning caused damage in New Plymouth.... MetService meterologist Peter Little said the weather radar had shown signs of a possible tornado in the area ...

we may get more as we are under severe thunderstorm watch. first tornado to hit auckland since 2013 i think

Just had some hail here in Grey Lynn. Lightning data shows there was lightning in the Waitakere ranges.
