For the next wintry weather event, I thought I would start a new topic on this.

A quick flick of rain followed by a few showers, looking like a stock standard winter change.

Rain arriving in Chch now, looks interesting on the radar with a fair bit of red mixed in. Quite widespread as well.

Must be a low cloud base too, radar not picking up much past Amberley as its raining solidly.

6C with 80% humidity in Lyttelton according to Metservice so 3C dew point, guessing cloud base about 300m if it's 1C drop every 100m elevation. Rain intensity has eased a bit and the back edge of the front seems to be approaching the peninsula. Some hail cells in there?

MetService said about 400m for Canterbury in their video forecast, seems about right.

Not much snow on Herbert yet, some near the top. There's a rain shower coming through right now.

That area is looking like to be New Zealand's capital ie. a line from Hawera to Whakatane.
Tornado capital, I mean.
Like what would be least area to expect a tornado? The Catlins?

auckland is sort of on the edge as some years there can be 2 tornadoes in auckland while sometimes there can be none and just recent auckland had 2 tornadoes. unrealated to this topic but im just mentioning it.
