4.1°C on my thermometer and looks like some snowflakes falling with the rain.
(for what it's worth, I recall snowflakes falling in Tinwald, Ashburton, on this day in 1982 or 1983)

Went for a drive this afternoon, nothing photogenic but did witness a couple cgs. Small hail maybe 5-10mm at a guess
When people ask how do i become a stormchaser, I reply "Just drive round in circles"

That band is heading for the city, will be short and sharp as its narrowing down heading north.
Unless the peninsula ramps it up abit.

I reckon the Peninsula will divert or stop it, usual trend anywayStorm Struck wrote: ↑Wed 25/09/2019 20:52 That band is heading for the city, will be short and sharp as its narrowing down heading north.

The very occasional flake mixed in here. Radar indicates the show is nearly over. Look out for black ice in the morning folks!

Currently around 15c difference from the sea surface in the Canterbury bight and @850 hPa. In the range for cold convection development if that southerly flow continues.

Re: Very cold and unstable SW blast, Eastern SI 25th Sept
We going to see a chain shower development on the back end of this band through central Canterbury??

Surely not a sea level chain shower set up throughout the night.... it's certainly cold enough.Cyclone Tracy wrote: ↑Wed 25/09/2019 22:05 Currently around 15c difference from the sea surface in the Canterbury bight and @850 hPa. I'm doubtful... I know I harp on but critical SW flow and all that.. out to sea I'm thinking
