I wouldn't rule out a chance of late afternoon thunderstorms in Canterbury tomorrow also, probably inland.

Getting some seriously heavy rain here in Nelson, quite concerning if it continues on has been steady to torrential at times since 5pm.
Would be bang on 50mm+ by now, surprised there is no watch or warning for this as its feeding in over the top of the south and going nowhere fast.
Weve had some big rainfalls since ive been up here in Nelson from early June, but this one tops them all by far.
Id say some flooding and slips by morning.

Yes, I noticed that on the rain radar that the north SI was getting a lot of rain.
I see in the OTD today's they had warnings out for heavy rain down Dunedin way.
I don't know why tony T and MS have low chances of thunderstorms down here. Very unlikely conditions like that to happen with the Clagg we are getting down here.

Instability in the middle of the trough. The low cloud layer should be pretty thin, so if the sun can break through then the fuse is lit. If not, then its your favourite clagg sandwich breakfast lunch and dinner.

A nice wee topaupa last night here too with 5mm, but, we have the low clagg this morning though, hope you are right Tony in that it clears away, if not today, Sat and Sunday look as though cloud buildups are likely.

Breaks in the clouds west of Amberley Tony, still claggy to the east.

Radar indicates a few cells around as at 3:30pm - notable around Oxford to Springfield and maybe one up Amberley way?
