I wonder if october is gonna be a wet month or a dry month?

GFS now bringing an intense anticyclone onto the scene to kick the month off

The first couple days look like mid winter for here, GFS showing around 12-13 degrees in the day time

Anticyclones and southwest airflow should be the dominant feature until the end of the month when low pressure systems should dominate. So I would say dry for most areas.

American models are locking onto a high intensity cold shot on the opening day of October. Projecting a streaming upper trough that has origins from an upper cold core cyclone with a centre of -44c @500 hPa. NASA's GEOS is putting the 528 thickness line over Auckland Tuesday evening.

EC & UK not at that level at the moment.

EC showing -32C at 500hPa with that trough later on Tuesday

Yes looks good alright. on the first day of october too.

Nothing much to speak off in the way of weather with the current system, just a bit of cloud and one heck of a cool down.

Wet overnight in Southland.10.1mm in the gauge at 9am this morning .Here at Thornbury air minimum got down to 2.0C with occasional showers some with small hail. Currently fine here with a few Scatt TCu around.Temp 8.4C

It's pretty chilly out there in Amberley. Some pretty dark clouds but the radar isn't showing much more than patches of rain.

Some interesting clouds down this way, better than yesterday.
Wouldn't be surprised if we got a small hail shower.

Epic storm in Napier and I suspect Hastings. Looks like it snowed in the entire city from the amount of hail.

The temp plummeted more than 10 degrees in 20 minutes.

Drove through that just South of Hastings. Heavy rain and Hail temp showed 3 degrees in the car at one stage.

dew point relatively low and been dropping all day, as the airmass has originated in the southern ocean

Yes, quite a nice day in Auckland today with max 16C, not bad for a polar trough. I don't see much hope for good weather tomorrow though with a blustery SW/showery.
