Tornado alley moves up into Canada during their summer. They get spectacular thunderstorms on the plains states, I think even Toronto must get some good storms.

Calgary has a good thunderstorm season but the warm season is short there with 6 months of hard Winter. The snow storms would be interesting but you would get sick of snow living there.

yes the 6th ef4 in the states this year. despite a quiet season. march and april was active though. i was concerned a ef5 would hit there this yer but fortunatly there is a tornado drought there. that is unlikely.

My memory of Death Valley is you were required by law to carry water and pick up any hitchhikers.
We had been driving around USA for a couple of months in a car with the air conditioning not working so were acclimatised to heat, the Summers for much USA are hot.

You wouldn't want to bring a coat with you or a jersey just in case a cold southerly would come through like here in Canterbury on hot NW days?
I can remember one day when we had the property in West Melton, where on a hot day, I forgot to open up the tunnel house before I went to work.
When I came home and opened up the doors and vent, I checked the thermometer I had in there and it said 47C and the heat just hit me as I opened up the door. So I can sort of imagine what a 53C heat would feel like.
